2 Sections per Division:

*You are required to sit for all three subject divisions. While your total score will determine your eligibility as an overall competition finalist, you may choose to concentrate on specific divisions for division-specific awards and prizes.

MCQ Section:

10 MCQ questions – 20 minutes

Three A-level questions
Four B-level questions
Three C-level questions

FRQ Section:

1 FRQ question – 15 minutes

One B/C-level question

In total – 1 hour and 55 minutes:

30 MCQ questions for all sections – 1 hour
10 minute break
3 FRQ questions for all sections – 45 minutes

What are the question levels?

All questions in the competition are categorized into one of three question levels, A, B, and C, depending on their difficulty.

*Note that the difficulty of the Individual Event papers increases progressively with each question.

A-level Questions

General high school/secondary level difficulty. (E.g. Regular Chemistry, IGCSE Chemistry)

B-level Questions

Advanced high school/secondary level difficulty. (E.g. AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry)

C-level Questions

Hardcore olympiad-level material 💀

Questions Scoring

*A Scantron will be used to score the Individual Event MCQ Sections.

+6 points — each correct
+2 points — each unanswered
+0 points — each incorrect

FRQ

Each scored out of 5 points
No penalty for incorrect answers

Tie-Breaker

Participants' justifications/work shown in the FRQ Sections will be reviewed to resolve any ties.

Team Tournament Event:

Individual participants will be grouped into teams within their own schools and will compete in a tournament-style competition for a single champion school title and trophy.
